Avast is a feature of the antivirus industry with a powerful malware diagnosis engine as well as a variety of additional features, including ransomware coverage and a web fire wall and VPN assistance. Its malware detection score of 6 out 6 in our tests was excellent and it did a superb job in preventing access to phishing sites which slipped through Chrome’s and Firefox default protection.
In our real-world tests, Avast managed to sift through nearly two million distinct files in a complete scan which is impressive considering the program is comparatively light and efficient. Avast did not affect system performance in any way during our speed tests. It was faster than many of its competitors that can take more than an hour to scan the same number of files.
Avast’s interface is clean, easy to navigate. The interface of Avast is clean simple and easy to navigate. The majority of the tools are located on one page, with clear, readable tiles for every feature. This makes it simple to locate the features you need without having to navigate through a lengthy menu or multiple applications. This is an improvement over McAfee’s suite which has all of its features spread across multiple applications.
Avast offers a good level of customer service, offering 24 hours support via telephone or email. The company also offers a knowledge base and forums to assist you with simple problems. For more complex issues, it is possible to use an online ticketing system for help. The data-sharing practices of Bitdefender are not ideal, and it does not come with parental controls or an account manager that can compete with Bitdefender Total Security.
